Thousands of years ago, during the time of Mahabharata, there was a city call Pandavaprastha (city of Pandavas). That historic name
later changed to Panipat, which is now known as the city of weavers. Panipat was the scene of three pivotal battles in the Indian history.
Each of these battles witnessed a migration of local weavers to the far eastern part of India.
They had faced many challenges to preserve the tradition, weaving-skill and values that have been passed through generations.
The weaving industry was growing, but weaving traditions were slowly dying as weavers moved to less labor-intensive jobs.
We felt that weavers needed to see their craft as more than what it was - merely a skill that created products for retail.
They needed to see it as something creative and respectful. The idea had us reaching out to the weavers and bringing
them to our factory and today thier traditions are being shared with the rest of the world.
Our mission is to develop the craftsmanship of Artisans and generate employment to foster careers in traditional arts. We want to make sure that traditional techniques are not lost to history and continue to thrive and evolve with modern needs and styles.
We are committed to a sustainable future and to improving the social, economic and environmental well being of the community. We are committed to protect our natural resources by conserving non-renewable resources and recycling the re-usable materials.
We firmly believe in work-life balance. As a socially concerned enterprise, we will substantially reduce poverty by ensuring fair wages. We believe in greater female economic empowerment, which may lead to improved investments in education of children, health and food consumption, with positive effects on overall household welfare.
We are building a model to develop each artisan a self-independent entrepreneur who is able to deal with the complexities of the trade and can get a fair return for his work through its competing skills. This makes weavers financially strong and independent so that they can sustain a regular livelihood for their family.
